The thermal shock resistance of glass-lined equipment is closely related to the compressive stress on the glass surface. The
higher the compressive stress, the better the thermal shock resistance. On the other hand, the compressive stress decreases
with the increase of temperature. Therefore, the allowable temperature difference between rapid heating and rapid cooling
often depends on the wall temperature of the container, and is also affected by the volume, shape and operating conditions of
the container. The two charts on the right show the maximum allowable difference between hot and cold temperatures under
different operating conditions. However, this table is only applicable to standard glass-lined reactor with a capacity of less than
15m³
